Just finished writing a pretty damn good conference paper on extraterritoriality to be sent off in the morning. And then off to the Mt. Airy Fiddlers Convention, which even has a new webpage.
Mt Airy is one of my favorite old time festivals, maybe even may be my favorite. Perhaps because it is old time as well as hardcore traditional bluegrass, the yin and yang of the South.
One highlight of the weekend is the plan to meet up with the two Dans from the Cankickers and go to record some tunes at Meadows of Dan, VA, which is right close to Mt. Airy. We've been talking about doing it for years but have not yet gotten around to it.
The other spot for the record will be Dan Daniel Memorial Park in Danville, VA. Yes, that really does exist.
