Rats force Roanoke school to close - Roanoke.com: "A rat infestation has closed Fairview Elementary School in Northwest Roanoke less than a week before the start of the school year. Students will begin the year in classroom trailers on the campus of Preston Park Primary School, about five miles away, until the rodents have been exterminated. That could take about a month, school officials said. The school system decided Wednesday afternoon to close the school shortly after hearing from exterminators that the rodent infestation was too widespread to be addressed before Sept. 4, when classes for the school's 450 students are scheduled to begin."
