Brilliant as it might have seemed to have hired Nicholson Baker to write about Wikipedia, this article, though spottily amusing, strikes me as something of a piece with those now-campy articles appearing in the early 1990s about the wild and wacky stuff out there on the interweb written by intrepid reporters delving into the thickets. Boy, that internet thing, it is really something, don't you think Maude?

Baker's piece is well written, but in a cloying sort of way. Could it be that Baker has, in fact, become a simpering pathetic hack? His last book was certainly a pile of dogshit. It would be sad, Undismayed has been a longtime reader and fan (and even pushed his books on others). The center cannot hold.
