Wow, Wade Mainer turns 101 on Monday and had his birthday party on Saturday night in Fenton Township, Michigan. He sounded good too, playing his old favorites. This video has some snippets of them, I wish they would have let a whole song through but this is all we get. Next year we'll have to meet at the birthday party:

Definitely Wade's playing is one of the major reasons I wanted to start playing the banjo myself. If you don't have his old 1930s recordings, do yourself a favor and
get them.

Wade's wife Julia looks great and sounds great too (she sings a chorus of "I Can't Sit Down" at the end of the segment). She's 89 years old. Shows you what clean living can do.
