Friday night mob beating was planned in advance, police say

A weekend attack by a dozen or so people that killed a man had been planned in advance, police Chief Bruce P. Marquis said Monday.

Six people - four of them teenage girls - have been charged with homicide, malicious wounding and robbery in the Friday night attack in East Ocean View, and more suspects were being sought, police said.

It happened in the 9500 block of 16th Bay St. That's where, police said, a mob stripped and beat three men. Two victims managed to run away; the third, James Stanford Robertson, 19, of Georgia, died.
